Upbeat New Hampshire Strategic Plan 2026
Upbeat New Hampshire’s vision for the next decade is to be a multi-cultural center of
excellence in the Greater Nashua community where children of many cultural traditions
receive instrumental instruction and opportunities to perform in orchestras. We will
come together as ensembles to guide all our members to develop high standards as
musicians, good students, and leaders.
Goals
- Grow our orchestral model to promote a seamless transition through three levels of
orchestra and chamber music - Provide a pathway for all students to excel musically and achieve high standards
- Motivate middle and high school students to continue through high school graduation
- Mentor students about their future beyond high school
- Build a community of faculty, staff, families and students linking social and emotional
well being at every level within Upbeat - Provide a safe environment where children from diverse neighborhoods have a creative
and emotional outlet.
Strategies
- Recruit students from every neighborhood in Nashua and Southern New Hampshire.
Intentionally recruit students from disadvantaged communities within Nashua beginning
in 3rd grade. - Evaluate barriers that might prevent parents and students from participating
- Implement a “Practice Buddies Program” for high school students to mentor instrument
practice and orchestra participation for younger students. - Develop a recruitment plan to expand the orchestra to include winds, brass and
percussion - Increase the number of parents and families who are engaged in Upbeat
- Increase the depth of participation
- Encourage student participation in music selection
- Evaluate and create space for students to complete homework and have healthy snacks
while waiting for rehearsals or lessons. - Implement a professional development plan for teaching artists
