Upbeat New Hampshire works in partnership with the Nashua School District and United Way of Greater Nashua (our fiscal agent.) There is no cost to the school district and the program is funded through private donations and grants. Upbeat New Hampshire promotes social learning and good study skills by enabling a student to be part of a group of peers working as a team.
We begin violin, viola and cello instruction on-site at the students’ elementary school with semi-private lessons with just 3 students per 30 minute lesson. There are 12 violin students, 3 viola and 3 cello students form each participating elementary school. Each student receives 30 lessons per school year. Seven elementary schools participate in the program; Dr. Crisp, Amherst Street, Birch Hill, Mount Pleasant, Bicentennial, New Searles, and Main Dunstable. Cello students attend after school lessons at Nashua North High school. Middle school and High school students may continue after school lessons at Nashua North. We offer after school double bass lessons to students in 9th grade and older on site at Nashua North.
All students receive an instrument to use for the school year at no charge.
